Saturday, May 16, 2026. The Bali sky was rainy that day. The BeaGood team and Good People volunteers made their way to Sidhi Astu orphanage in Tuka, Badung — a home to 48 children. Some are orphans, some were separated from their families due to domestic violence, and others are there because their parents cannot yet support them financially.
Honestly, there was a little nervousness at first. Worried about saying the wrong thing, worried about the awkwardness. But all of that disappeared within the first five minutes — when we asked “Are you ready?” and they shouted back “Ready!” with full enthusiasm.
Playing, Laughing, Forgetting the Time
We didn’t bring a formal agenda. After introductions, we simply joined in — playing Snakes and Ball Toss, laughing together, and letting the kids take us on a tour of the orphanage, including their rooms where they rest and study.
In the middle of it all, we discovered it was one of our Good People volunteers’ birthdays — so we surprised them with a spontaneous “Happy Birthday” during the group photo. We shared lunch together, sat in circles, and talked with the children until we suddenly realized it was already 2 PM. One by one, we said our goodbyes.
They were the ones who truly taught us: that warmth can be created, even from the simplest things. That family isn’t always about blood — it’s about who chooses to stay and care.
Starting from small things, we can bring joy to the children of Panti Asuhan Sidhi Astu.
