More Than Just Trash: The Inspiring Story of a Disabled Father and His Family’s Struggle

The BeaGood team from Kupang, NTT met a father who had lost both hands and was raising a family — a wife and four children. Both husband and wife worked as scavengers, searching through piles of trash from morning to night under the scorching sun and cold nights, facing daily dangers just to survive.

With four young children still needing care and the basic necessities of life — food, education, and shelter — the challenge was immense. Yet despite his physical limitations, he pushed through work that would be hard for anyone.

Pak Topo and his wife worked tirelessly, collecting recyclable waste to keep their family going, driven by a spirit that refused to give up. His love for his children was his greatest motivation. Despite living with so little, he kept fighting for their future.

Then on April 5, 2026, Pak Topo passed away from a heart attack — leaving behind deep grief, four young children, and a wife who was three months pregnant. BeaGood stepped in to help ease the burden of the funeral costs and daily needs. The team continues to support his wife and four children to this day.

The long-term effects of poverty on children’s development — their health, education, nutrition, and mental wellbeing — are real and lasting. If you feel moved to help, even the smallest contribution matters. Not just money, but also usable goods (clothing, books, toys), food, or simply your time. BeaGood is here to channel your support to this family.
